As a photographer and kayaker, having a place on my ‘doorstep’ where both interests can be combined is something that I have always been grateful for.

One of my favourite places is Llangorse Lake. Not only is it in beautiful surroundings but it has a wealth of history and an amazing variety of plants and animals.Originally known as Lake Syfaddan, it is the second largest in Wales - only Bala Lake in North Wales is larger. It has a circumference of 5 miles, is one mile long with a total area of 327 acres. It is relatively low lying at 154m above sea level, fringed by some 20 acres of reed beds, with species rich grassland and woodland dominated by alder and willow.
